We need to understand the pillars of ablution because they are a prerequisite for the validity of ablution. If any of them is omitted, ablution is invalid, and prayer is not accepted. Furthermore, understanding the pillars helps us follow the teachings of the Prophet ﷺ and avoid mistakes. There are six pillars of ablution: intention, washing the face, washing the hands up to the elbows, wiping the head, washing the feet up to the ankles, and order.
